Prizes

The winning design will be publicly announced on Wednesday 18th June, at the VIP Private View of Design Show Liverpool at the Contemporary Urban Centre .

The winner will receive:

  • A £500 cheque
  • The 2008 Student Design Award trophy & certificate, presented by Wayne Hemingway MBE
  • The opportunity to exhibit their design at Design Show Liverpool
  • If feasible, the winner’s idea will be commissioned by DuPont Corian® and a prototype made of the design
Two runners up will also be awarded with a trophy & certificate at the VIP Private View, and will have the opportunity to exhibit their product during the show itself.

Judging

All entrants must be in full time education at the time of applying. Entries may be a new twist on an existing product idea or something completely new.

The winner of Design Show Liverpool’s Student Design award will be able to show a truly innovative or imaginative approach to creating a new and practical design.

The judges are particularly interested in designs that have a practical purpose. Anything and everything will be considered, and designs are welcomed from all art & design disciplines.

If suitable, the winning entry will then be developed into a prototype by DuPont Corian®. Corian® is an extremely versatile surface that can be used for many purposes. However, it is not a prerequisite of entry that the design is able to be made using Corian®. All entries will be judged on their own merit.
