My work challenges perceptions of traditional Craft by celebrating them in a contemporary context, harnessing processes of traditional wood turning within a simple aesthetic.
Using coloured Synthetic Plastics, and sustainable British Timbers, I create a range of hand turned vessels and functional interior products. Each piece of work made by a process of laminating and turning, exposing the natural patination of the timber and the light reflective qualities of the plastic.
For Design Show Liverpool I shall be producing a new range of larger scale works using recycled plastic and reclaimed timbers. Working in partnership with Record Power Tools I will be launching a range of vessels that are much larger than any previously produced.
Recent commissions have included work for Habitat, Heals, Red Direct, 78 Derngate (Charles Rennie Mackintosh).
I was a recent finalist in Channel 4’s grand Designs Talent Spot Award and was awarded by the UKTI for product for export at Origin 2007.
