Debby Moxon has developed her techniques for heat colouring titanium over the last 25 years. This process has evolved through the exploration of various methods of texturing on, and interference with, the surface of this fascinating, unusual metal.
Inspiration for designs and profiles is found in a variety of sources relating to natural history - old litho prints, early microscopic drawings, cellular structures, and aerial photographs.
A degree of chance is integral to the colouring process, so each piece must be carefully considered. Each piece is individually constructed using silver rivets and carefully finished: they are uncomplicated to wear and designed to last. Ian Simm’s technical knowledge and his expertise in precision cutting make possible a level of excellence for which they are known.
In 2004 and 2007 Debby received Arts Council funding to develop her unique and innovative titanium jewellery.
Work is also done with precious metals and stones including opals.
