My work has been exhibited in Europe and America and although I can work on larger pieces, I enjoy making smaller objects and jewellery. I trained as a silversmith and and tend to use precious metals as a basis for my designs sometimes use silver in combination with a variety of other materials to give the work some colour or textural interest. I am very interested in contemporary art and design and keep up to date by visiting the international design shows.
The jewellery I make may be worn in the daytime or evenings and each year I aim to produce a collection with a different theme and aesthetic. This year I am returning to further develop an earlier theme where the form of the jewellery is based on the markings on the sides of ships. The style is minimal and geometric.
In the past, I have incorporated signs and symbols into the designs.
In both cases, every piece has some individuality built into the design and I think that is a very important quality for a piece jewellery.
