Jayne Apperley uses traditional blown glass techniques to create a contemporary collection of Studio Glass including objects for everyday use, one-off designs corporate gifts and trophies.

She employs a number of specialist techniques and particularly enjoys ‘Graal’ a Swedish technique involving cutting a pattern through a coloured layer on an egg shaped form to reveal another colour underneath. This is then heated up and blown out creating a highly patterned piece.
Another technique which particularly interests Jayne is Italian ‘Encalmo’, involving blowing two separate cup shapes which are joined rim to rim while hot and blown out as one piece giving a very definite change of colour/pattern to a piece.

As each piece is created individually it is possible to respond to an individuals design themes. Jayne welcomes commissions and is happy to discuss ideas from small personal pieces to production runs.
